(Reuters) – Qatar inaugurated the fourth of eight 2022 World Cup venues, the Al Rayyan Stadium, when the country hosted the Amir Cup closing concerning Al-Sadd and Al-Arabi on Friday.
Al-Sadd, coached by previous Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi Hernandez, conquer Al-Arabi 2-1 to carry their 17th Amir Cup title immediately after Algeria ahead Baghdad Bounedjah scored twice.
“It is a superb soccer stadium,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
“The atmosphere is unbelievable, with the seats particularly close to the pitch… I am sure this will be a best soccer arena in 2022 when it hosts matches for the duration of the Globe Cup.
“The country is very effectively prepared for the up coming FIFA Earth Cup and on track to host a unforgettable instalment of the tournament – the to start with in the Middle East and the Arab earth.”
The Amir Cup final’s date coincided with Qatar National Working day and the region is scheduled to host the 2022 World Cup closing in accurately two years’ time.
The 40,000-capability venue will host 7 Globe Cup matches up to the round of 16.
Right after the World Cup, the precinct bordering Al Rayyan, which involves 6 instruction pitches, will be remodeled into a regional sporting hub for the local neighborhood.
